What Beauty Is

pond_bridge

What beauty is, I know not, though it adheres to many things.

When we wish to bring it into our work we find it very hard. We must gather it together from far and wide, and especially in the case of the human figure throughout all its limbs from before and behind.

One may often search through two or three hundred men without finding amongst them more than one or two points of beauty which can be made use of.

You, therefore, if you desire to compose a fine figure, must take head from some, the chest, arm, leg, hand, and foot from others; and, likewise search through all members of every kind.

For from many beautiful things something good many be gathered, even as honey is gathered from many flowers.

~Albrecht Durer (1471-1528), painter, on the ideal of beauty~

All Occassions cards

all_occassions_cards

As my plant has Inventory today, our 3rd shift got cancelled from working last night, so I’ve ha some time for listing a few new items on Listia. Now these are cards I have created a few months ago but did not have a chance of listing in my Etsy shop – yet…lol

Now, Listia can be lots of fun: you can give away items you no longer need or want in exchange for credits that you can then use to get something you see, want or need… Lots of fun, bidding on those auctions, let me tell ya! Last I’ve got was a FREE digital scale tha I will e using in my craft room to weigh packages in order to create shipping labels…

I will go now make some fresh coffee, list another set of these cards in my Etsy shop, then get busy making my own laundry detergent, for my work clothes. They get so “grubby” that I usually wash them twice – just to get that oily smell off of them – and let me tell you, it can get expensive buying all that laundry detergent. So, when I have found a relatively easy DIY laundry detergent recipe, I have decided to use it for my work clothes.

I think I will enjoy the rest of my day off, because tonight back to work I go!

All y’all be good now 🙂

Oh, let us come and adore Him…

christmasx3

     Hello, there!

Those of you who have been following me for a bit know that, until I have discover paper crafts, I was an avid cross-stitcher. Well, I still am – sort of… More of a weekend cross-stitcher nowadays, but I blame it all on the hectic work schedule we’ve been on for months, a period during which I barely had time for proper rest, let alone have the energy to follow my hobbies and create anything… However, things have been leveling off at work (or rather, my line has become better at getting things done… lol) and now I can start cross-stitching again…

These three are a favorite of mine, but then I DO love all things Christmas, especially those with a vintage or a bit rustic feel. Created on 14ct natural cream Aida, I really love the texture of the fabric with its bits and bobs weaved in it… As it is quite customary for me, these pieces were created in December 2011 and have been waiting on me to find the right frames and finish them off, ready to be listed in my Etsy shop. Well, I have finally found the right frames for this Christmas grouping and last night I took some photos and got this grouping listed here, here and here.

I hope your weekend will be great; here in East Tennessee is so hot and humid outside, I refuse to step out unless absolutely necessary 😉

Becoming whole again…

Fire Within

Grief can arise from many life situations, but know it is not a permanent state of being.

When we experience any kind of devastating loss, whether it is the loss of a loved one, a dream, or a relationship, feelings may arise within us that are overwhelming or difficult to cope with. This sense of grief can also come up when we are separated from anyone or anything we have welcomed into our lives. And while it may feel like we are caught up in a never-ending spiral of sadness and emptiness, it is important to remember that the grief we are feeling is not a permanent state of being. Rather, grief is part of the process of letting go that in many ways can be a gift, allowing us to go deeper within ourselves to rediscover the light amidst the seeming darkness.

The emotions that accompany any kind of loss can be intense and varied. A sense of shock or denial is often the first reaction, to be replaced by anger. Sometimes this anger can be directed at your loved one for “abandoning” you; at other times you may feel outrage toward the universe for what you are enduring. And while there are stages of grief that people go through – moving from denial to anger to bargaining to depression to acceptance – the cycles of grief often move in spirals, sometimes circling forward and then back again. You may even experience moments of strength, faith, and laughter in between. While these emotions seem to come and go sporadically, it is important to feel them, accept them, and allow them to flow. With time, patience, and compassion, you will eventually find your center again.

As we move through our grief, we may find ourselves reluctant to release our pain, fearing we are letting go of who or what we have lost. We may even regard our movement toward healing as an act of disloyalty or giving up. Know that while the hurt may fade, the essence of what you had and who you loved will have already transformed you and forever stay with you. If anything, once you are ready for the pain of your loss to subside, their memories can then live more fully within you. Remember, that healing is a part of the spiraling cycles of grief, and that in letting yourself feel restored again, you are surrendering to a natural movement that is part of the dance of life.

Some days are for doing…

marbles

Some days aren’t for talking or wondering. They’re not for dreaming, seeking, meandering or procrastinating.

Some days are for doing, like today.

What are you going to do, change, learn, find, proclaim, invest or manifest?
