Oh, let us come and adore Him…

christmasx3

     Hello, there!

Those of you who have been following me for a bit know that, until I have discover paper crafts, I was an avid cross-stitcher. Well, I still am – sort of… More of a weekend cross-stitcher nowadays, but I blame it all on the hectic work schedule we’ve been on for months, a period during which I barely had time for proper rest, let alone have the energy to follow my hobbies and create anything… However, things have been leveling off at work (or rather, my line has become better at getting things done… lol) and now I can start cross-stitching again…

These three are a favorite of mine, but then I DO love all things Christmas, especially those with a vintage or a bit rustic feel. Created on 14ct natural cream Aida, I really love the texture of the fabric with its bits and bobs weaved in it… As it is quite customary for me, these pieces were created in December 2011 and have been waiting on me to find the right frames and finish them off, ready to be listed in my Etsy shop. Well, I have finally found the right frames for this Christmas grouping and last night I took some photos and got this grouping listed here, here and here.

I hope your weekend will be great; here in East Tennessee is so hot and humid outside, I refuse to step out unless absolutely necessary 😉

Summer kite…

kite

A few months ago, feeling more crative – and brave – than usual, I have decided to try something way out of my “cardmaker” comfort zone. I picked up my collection of monthly “Stampin’ Up” publications, and quickly I have decided on re-creating one or both the kites tha were shown. I had to chose some patterned cardstock from a recent non-Stampin’ Up purchase, because I wanted the large base rosette to have more weigh that the Designer Paper Series Stampin’ Up is offering, but otherwise I kept with my all-time favorites: butterfly & flowers punches, color cardstock, background stamp, border punches, brads & ribbons, all SU items (some current, some long gone…)

Although it did not turn out as pretty as the original, I was pleased with it and decided to hang it on my apartment’s door. To my surprise, I had a few neighbors from the complex stoping me and telling me how beautiful they thought my wreath was and asking where they could get one. Thery seemed quite amazed to hear I had made it myself… Maybe I should make some more and list them in my PaperMoons Designs shop… lol… Just noticed I have the wreath hanging all crooked in my photo – I am thinking that new eyeglasses are definitely in order!

Gotta start gtting ready: I am leaving for the McGhee-Tyson Airport in a few short hours to pick up the “kiddies” – I can hardly wait!!!

Birdhouses – Cross-stitch Wall Art

Birdhouses Wall Art

One of my latest endeavours has been creating a few pieces of cross-stitch wall art. The delightful trio of prim-style birdhouses was cross-stitched on 14ct white Mill Hill perforated paper (my absolute favorite cross-stitch material!), in soft pastel coordinating shades of dusty pink, green, yellow and blue. The thread is DMC Six Strand Embroidery Floss. The stitched area is aprox 3in by 7.5in and the completed piece is 5in by 9.5in, which allow you to frame it with a mat in the frame of your choice.

The frame as it appears above, is digitally created, to give you a basic idea on how the piece would look framed. This completed piece is NOT coming with a frame – the frame in the photograph was used only to give you an idea on how this sampler can be displayed on your desk or wall.

Stitching time: aprox. 12hrs.
