Oh, let us come and adore Him…

     Hello, there!

Those of you who have been following me for a bit know that, until I have discover paper crafts, I was an avid cross-stitcher. Well, I still am – sort of… More of a weekend cross-stitcher nowadays, but I blame it all on the hectic work schedule we’ve been on for months, a period during which I barely had time for proper rest, let alone have the energy to follow my hobbies and create anything… However, things have been leveling off at work (or rather, my line has become better at getting things done… lol) and now I can start cross-stitching again…

These three are a favorite of mine, but then I DO love all things Christmas, especially those with a vintage or a bit rustic feel. Created on 14ct natural cream Aida, I really love the texture of the fabric with its bits and bobs weaved in it… As it is quite customary for me, these pieces were created in December 2011 and have been waiting on me to find the right frames and finish them off, ready to be listed in my Etsy shop. Well, I have finally found the right frames for this Christmas grouping and last night I took some photos and got this grouping listed here, here and here.

I hope your weekend will be great; here in East Tennessee is so hot and humid outside, I refuse to step out unless absolutely necessary 😉

It’s official…

Last night we’ve been informed that we are working the  whole weekend, which pretty much means that our Christmas shutdown is two days shorter than it should have been… And what makes it so frustrating is that we have been working 7 days/week pretty much since July… I have been so tired that I have not had a chance of getting any of my Christmas decorations up – although I have somehow managed to CASE and make myself a new wreath (I’ll try to get a photo of it and post it this weekend…lol)
I hope all of you enjoy your family and friends and have a Merry Christmas”!

Oh, come let us adore Him…

One of my favorite Christmas cards this year turned out to be one that I have failed to photograph very well… I did mention before how nature failed to provide me with any useful photography skills, didn’t I…? If I did not, well… that is the painful truth… But I digress…

The card was created in a gatefold style, with the opening slightly offset to the right. The focal image was stamped in Versamark, then heat embossed with silver embossing powder, then it was layered on silver and navy panels. It is not really visible in the photo, but the star was stamped, heat embossed then fussy cut and applied on top of the original star. The “stars” on the card and the focal image were created using a Sakura Stardust Clear pen.

Supplies are Stampin’ Up!, unless otherwise noted: Cardstock: Night of Navy, Brushed Silver & Very Vanilla; Ink: Basic Grey, VersaMark Watermark (Tsukineko); Stamp: Come to Bethlehem; Accessories: SuperFine Detail Silver Embossing Powder (Ranger), Embossing Buddy, Stardust Clear Pen & Perm-opaque Silver (Sakura), clear rhinestones, adhesive, miniglue dots, heat gun.

Black Friday Savings…

As yet another Black Friday rolls around, with high hopes that it would give this sluggish economy a boost, after a day a cooking and enjoying it with Jim, after giving Thanks for our families, jobs, each other and a most precious freedom that we owe those fighting overseas for it, I sat down to do some computer work. And decided to have a “Black Friday Sale” for my Etsy card shop, PaperMoon’s Designs. So, if you decide to stop by, take a look and buy a Christmas card or two, use the coupon code BF2011 at the Checkout for a 20% savings! Sale ends Sunday, November 27 at 12pm – so hurry up!

Rejoice ~ Peace ~ Noel

A week ago, I have promised myself that I will complete – and hopefully post/list – all the projects that I have started during my leave of absence… Well, that did not quite happen, not entirely… You see, six weeks is a long time, even if I was not really able to do much crafting for the first two weeks… So, I ended up with lots of projects, most of them 95% completed. Over the weekend however,  I sat down my too prolific self and finished lots of my cards and cross-stitch bookmarks. The thing that stumps me the most is taking photographs of my projects – as I have mentioned before, naybe once or twice too many times… lol

But I did complete three cross-stitch cards that are very dear to me… You see, I love stained glass. From large size, as in cathedral windows to small size, as in my cross-stiched card – and everything in between… So, whenever I catch a glimpse of a pattern that could be developed into a stained glass project… well, I cannot resit it!

So you can understand when I tell you that I could not pass the opportunity of sitting down and cross-stitching these lovely cards. For a closer – and much better look – each of these cards can be found in my “FarAway Designs Cards” shop, just click on each card name and it will take you there: Rejoice, Peace & Noel.

Tonight, I have a writing assignment for a blog hop: Holiday Traditions. That means less cross-stitching, less computer time and more thinking, writing, reading, proofreading, re-writing & more re-writing… I am really looking forward to challenge my brain in a different way 😉

Spirit of Christmas

Remember the cute, glittery set of 3 cards posted yesterday…? Imagine how shocked I was to see that they have found a most loving home in West Virginia! Thank you much, Dianna – you are most appreciated! So, after re-listing it “Merry Christmas set” second set in a different color, I wake up this morning to see it was featured in an Etsy Treasury! What pleasant surprise to wake up to!

My latest card “Spirit of Christmas” is a clean and simple card, CASEd from an YouTube video. The only things I have changed were the embossing powder from silver to gold and outlining the larger letters with a clear glaze pen. I kind of liked the way it turned out – what do you think…?

Blue Christmas

Have I ever mentioned that Christmas is my favorite holiday ever…? I often think of Christmases past, of a childhood that was so trouble-free, of the oranges and bananas that were so very rare in the Romanian markets, but that my Dad always managed to bring home at Christmas… I remember fondly the Christmas tree we were barely allowed to decorate, as my grandma was quite mindful of her heirloom glass ornaments and the real candles that made everything sparkle so softly and magically…

Many years have passed since; my grandma and father passed away, and so did the uncle and aunt that taught us how to sing Christmas carols… I am grateful to all of them for creating such beautiful memories, that make each Christmas season a treasure to be cherished…

As I only recently started sending handmade Christmas cards to friends and family, I try to create cards that carry those magical images of my childhood into each card I made – so everyone enjoys a bit of seasonal joy when they open an envelope…

What we have here is a set of three Christmas cards created on blue cardstock and layered with white and blue panels. Top panels on two cards are dry embossed and a touch of shimmer paint has been added. A third panel has been embossed with a frame panel and sponged with ink for a distressed look. The stockings have been hand stamped and glimmer paper as well as clear rhinestones have been added for an unique look. A wonderful, special set of cards to give as a gift – or use yourself this Christmas season!

What unique memories of Christmas past do you care to share with us…? I would love to hear it, so please take a minute and leave a comment…

Thank you for dropping by today!
