Oh, let us come and adore Him…

     Hello, there!

Those of you who have been following me for a bit know that, until I have discover paper crafts, I was an avid cross-stitcher. Well, I still am – sort of… More of a weekend cross-stitcher nowadays, but I blame it all on the hectic work schedule we’ve been on for months, a period during which I barely had time for proper rest, let alone have the energy to follow my hobbies and create anything… However, things have been leveling off at work (or rather, my line has become better at getting things done… lol) and now I can start cross-stitching again…

These three are a favorite of mine, but then I DO love all things Christmas, especially those with a vintage or a bit rustic feel. Created on 14ct natural cream Aida, I really love the texture of the fabric with its bits and bobs weaved in it… As it is quite customary for me, these pieces were created in December 2011 and have been waiting on me to find the right frames and finish them off, ready to be listed in my Etsy shop. Well, I have finally found the right frames for this Christmas grouping and last night I took some photos and got this grouping listed here, here and here.

I hope your weekend will be great; here in East Tennessee is so hot and humid outside, I refuse to step out unless absolutely necessary 😉

ODBDSLC62 Sketch Challenge

ODBDSLC62 challenge entry

This week’s challenge at “Our Daily Bread Designs” was another beautiful sketch. However, I turned the sketch sideways to better work with what I had in mind for the card I was going to create. A new element for me: the card is 5.5in by 5.5in, which I don’t usually do. In this case though it seemed to offer a larger “creative canvas” for my card.

I layered designer paper on a white cardstock base over dark green cardstock panel. A double-sided satin ribbon was added under the sentiment to add a bit more color into the card. I’ve used one of the stamps I’ve recently bought, the “Faith” set. I fussy-cut an additional rose from the designer paper and layered it on the card, using 3D foam dots. Self-adhesive pearls in three different sizes have been added to the left side of the sentiment panel. The soft, muted colors are reminiscent of cards of days long past…

Supplies used are Stampin’ Up, unless otherwise stated: Cardstock Whisper White #100730, Always Artichoke #105119, Sahara Sand #121043, Early Expresso #119686 (Stampin’ Up); Designer paper Life’s Journey (K & Company); Self-adhesive pearls #119247 (Stampin’ Up); Ribbon 5/8″ double-sided satin in Early Expresso #119753.
