All Occassions cards

all_occassions_cards

As my plant has Inventory today, our 3rd shift got cancelled from working last night, so I’ve ha some time for listing a few new items on Listia. Now these are cards I have created a few months ago but did not have a chance of listing in my Etsy shop – yet…lol

Now, Listia can be lots of fun: you can give away items you no longer need or want in exchange for credits that you can then use to get something you see, want or need… Lots of fun, bidding on those auctions, let me tell ya! Last I’ve got was a FREE digital scale tha I will e using in my craft room to weigh packages in order to create shipping labels…

I will go now make some fresh coffee, list another set of these cards in my Etsy shop, then get busy making my own laundry detergent, for my work clothes. They get so “grubby” that I usually wash them twice – just to get that oily smell off of them – and let me tell you, it can get expensive buying all that laundry detergent. So, when I have found a relatively easy DIY laundry detergent recipe, I have decided to use it for my work clothes.

I think I will enjoy the rest of my day off, because tonight back to work I go!

All y’all be good now 🙂

Wedding Words…

DSCN2379     Quite recently – most likely, because I am so far behind the times 😉 – I have discovered an auction website names Listia. You can give away items you no longer need or want in exchange for credits that you can then use to get something you see, want or need… Lots of fun, bidding on those auctions, let me tell ya!

At the beginning, I was wondering what on Earth was I going to list for others to bid on; then I’ve realized that I had quite a few of duplicate Stampin’ Up items (due to the fact that I keep neglecting to add my newest SU purchases to the list I have…lol) So, I went through all my precious “goodies”, took photos and posted them… Yay!!

This morning, after getting home from work (yeah, we are still working 6 or 7 days a week…), I wanted to list one of SU Jumbo wheel stamps, “Wedding Words” but knew that the stamp would be easier to see if it was put “in action” – so to speak… The result was the above card that used Whisper White and Smoky Slate cardstock and VersaMark and Smoky Slate ink which I have heat embossed with clear embossing powder… A clean and simple card that – in spite of the layers used – it’s quite flat and would not take additional postage to be sent anywhere in the United States…

Now, I’ve got a fresh pot of coffee brewing and my newest Paper Pumpkin kit waiting for me, so I will go get busy (as, luckily for me, I don’t have to work tonight anymore…lol)

All y’all be good now 🙂

My 4th of July wreath…

4th_wreath

Well, not really… At least that is what I was planning to do as my door decoration… Let me start from the beginning…

When I have decided to look into creating my own 4th of July wreath, I first looked on Pinterest as many people do… However, he one that really caught my eye can be found here – something I thought would be simple enough for me to do myself (even if I consider myself not so adept at 3D paper crafting… lol) Of course, it was a couple of weeks ago so, after reading the whole post on how to create that beauty, I told myself I will re-create it while on my summer shutdown – and promptly filed it away somewhere in the recesses of my brain.

…until Tuesday, when I remembered my plans to decorate my front door – after all, my kite wreath needed a break… So, I gathered my supplies: red, white and blue cardstock and some glitter cardstock, Stampin’ Up punches, HiTemp glue gun and plenty of mini glue sticks and a 12″ foam wreath that was hiding in my craft closet (I really should have used a 9″ or 10″ wreath, but forgot to buy a new one…)

As I started to punch the necessary pieces to create my wreath, I realized that I had no idea how many pieces I really needed so, in order to have enough kept on punching till I got a big blister on my thumb and a couple of bruises from pinching my palm in the punch I was using… Obviously – I told myself, I am not using punches enough in my card making and I lacked the experience… sigh…) Then, I had to crumble over 200 pieces and that is when I realized that my cardstock was three different weights: the white cardstock was lightest and easiest to crumple, the blue cardstock was heaviest weight and I had to spray it with a water mister in order to crumple it, and the red cardstock was somewhere in between the two… My fingers cramped dozens of times and they got colored in red, blue and an interesting shade of purple…

When everything was nice and crumpled, I got my HiTemp glue gun and started assembling my wreath… After gluing a dozen of pieces – and burning my fingers every time – I realized I should have bought a LoTemp glue gun… But it was too late to do so, and I kept on working on my wreath… I REALLY wanted to make myself a new door decoration!

A day full of chores kept me away from finishing the wreath this morning, but the evening was all mine – I KNEW I was going to have it hanging by morning… Until an hour ago, when my HiTemp glue gun decided to put an end to my creativity… One of the blue pieces I was getting ready to affix to the wreath slipped and my left index finger got so much hot glue on it was blistered by the time I got to the kitchen, dousing my hand in cold water… Let me tell ya, getting glue off a blistered finger is NOT for the faint of heart! I got a cold pack, trying to numb the pain and stop the burning process, but it did not really help much…

As you can see, the wreath is unfinished and will remain that way until I can regain use of my finger… The empty space at the top will be filled with blue cardstock pieces, while the bottom space is divided in three sections to be filled with red and white pieces (about 12 pieces in each section…) At the top of my “craft” shopping list is – as I am sure you have guessed – a LoTemp glue gun for future projects… I am looking forward to crafting without self-inflicted injuries…

I wish you all a Happy 4th of July!

Summer kite…

kite

A few months ago, feeling more crative – and brave – than usual, I have decided to try something way out of my “cardmaker” comfort zone. I picked up my collection of monthly “Stampin’ Up” publications, and quickly I have decided on re-creating one or both the kites tha were shown. I had to chose some patterned cardstock from a recent non-Stampin’ Up purchase, because I wanted the large base rosette to have more weigh that the Designer Paper Series Stampin’ Up is offering, but otherwise I kept with my all-time favorites: butterfly & flowers punches, color cardstock, background stamp, border punches, brads & ribbons, all SU items (some current, some long gone…)

Although it did not turn out as pretty as the original, I was pleased with it and decided to hang it on my apartment’s door. To my surprise, I had a few neighbors from the complex stoping me and telling me how beautiful they thought my wreath was and asking where they could get one. Thery seemed quite amazed to hear I had made it myself… Maybe I should make some more and list them in my PaperMoons Designs shop… lol… Just noticed I have the wreath hanging all crooked in my photo – I am thinking that new eyeglasses are definitely in order!

Gotta start gtting ready: I am leaving for the McGhee-Tyson Airport in a few short hours to pick up the “kiddies” – I can hardly wait!!!

Mocha Morning Card Folio

A restless night, a bit too much caffeine resulted in this new Mocha Morning Card Folio. The six cards it contains are styled for both women and men, though I would not dare to send any man I know any card that has a pearl on it – hence the metallic copper brads… lol…

Here are the first two feminine cards cards, “Just for You” and “Happy Birthday”. The flocked DSP is simply stunning!

One feminine and one masculine cards, “Love you much” and “Celebrate Today”. Though it has a bit of flourishes, the “Perfectly Penned” stamp set works even on a man’s card…

The last two cards in the folio are both masculine cards, “Get Well” and “Thank You”. The metallic sheen DSP looks so very classy against the Early Expresso CS, doesn’t it…?

The last photo shows the card folio closed. Lots of CS and DSP have gone to the way of the trach can before I came up with a folio that was satisfactory… And of course, after the folio was complete, I have realized I could have made some changes for a much better result – but I was quite tired by that point and stopped…

For a better view of the individual cards, feel free to check out my Flickr “Mocha Morning Card Folio“.

Supplies used are Stampin’ Up, unless otherwise noted: Cardstock Very Vanilla #101650, Early Expresso #119686, Crumb Cake #120953, Basic Black #121045; DSP Mocha Morning #122366; Ink Early Expresso #119670; Stamps Perfectly Penned #122892, Well Scripted, Afterthoughts (Hostess set) ; Accessories Basic Pearls #119247, Snail Adhesive #104332, Decorative Label Punch #120907, brads.

Oh, come let us adore Him…

One of my favorite Christmas cards this year turned out to be one that I have failed to photograph very well… I did mention before how nature failed to provide me with any useful photography skills, didn’t I…? If I did not, well… that is the painful truth… But I digress…

The card was created in a gatefold style, with the opening slightly offset to the right. The focal image was stamped in Versamark, then heat embossed with silver embossing powder, then it was layered on silver and navy panels. It is not really visible in the photo, but the star was stamped, heat embossed then fussy cut and applied on top of the original star. The “stars” on the card and the focal image were created using a Sakura Stardust Clear pen.

Supplies are Stampin’ Up!, unless otherwise noted: Cardstock: Night of Navy, Brushed Silver & Very Vanilla; Ink: Basic Grey, VersaMark Watermark (Tsukineko); Stamp: Come to Bethlehem; Accessories: SuperFine Detail Silver Embossing Powder (Ranger), Embossing Buddy, Stardust Clear Pen & Perm-opaque Silver (Sakura), clear rhinestones, adhesive, miniglue dots, heat gun.

With Love

Autumn Love

Happy Labor Day everyone! I hope you are enjoying the extra day off, if you got it…

It was not a very productive weekend, not as far as paper crafting is concerned. I did work on – and finished – a couple of cross-stitch cards, which I’ll have to take photos of in the morning (outside, if weather permitting or inside, if it rains…) Then, I’ll have to transfer some of my stamping stuff from the open bins they are in now into the stackable boxes I got from Wal-Mart the other day. That should free up a bottom shelf, where I am planning to put the milk crates with the stamping kits and designer paper packs.

Only problem with my planning is that my weird sleep patterns always kick in the morning… And I’m still yet to take the Ambien my doctor prescribed, in an attempt to “reset” my sleep patterns, so that I will sleep at least 6 hrs in one block of time, rather than have it fragmented in 3 or 4 blocks… I have not slept 6 continuous  hrs since my daughter was born, almost 29 years ago… LOL… S, I’ll give the sleeping pills a try starting Tuesday morning after I come home from work – and see how it works for me…

I’ll leave you with the second one of my autumn cards, “With Love”. You can check  out this new listing in my Etsy shop. I hope you’ve enjoyed your visit today – see you later!
