Stamping in Time & Creative Sketches Challenges

I’ve made great plans for this long weekend, as I was working last night. On top of my list was to read my favorite creative blogs and get this old brain going. Imagine the pleasant surprise I had when I have realized that I could actually combine Our Daily Bread Designs’ “Stamping in Time SNTODBD38” challenge (that requested the creation of Christmas cards)  with Creative Sketches’ CS39 “Anything goes” challenge…

The card is my first tri-fold and to get an idea of how the card looks, take a look at the trio of images I took in an attempt to capture everything I have done:

I really need to practice my almost non-existent coloring skills; maybe I should have worked with my Copics…

Creative Sketches CS34H Holiday/Celebration

This this week’s sketch at Creative Sketches required us to combine a Holiday/Celebration with the provided sketch. A bit novel for me – again – but after printing the sketch and digging through my many, many stamp sets, I chose to use one of my latest Stampin’ Up acquisitions, the Flower Garden embossing folder. So I started listening to my “Secret Garden” CD and got to work… LOL…

CS34H challenge

I have used Watercolor paper, because I wanted to color the image. The first results were very, very far from good… What is a gal to do at 12:15am…? I dumped my first try, grabbed another panel of Watercolor paper, my Perfect Pearls Metallics powders and medium from Ranger and pounced and brushed the powders on the second embossed panel… I have used Perfect Pearl, Gold and Bronze to add some depth to my embossed flower. The sentiment is from Waltzingmouse Stamps  Fancy Phrases set. The Old Gold accent mat cardstock used on the image and sentiment is from the “Elegant Metallics” paper pad from Martha Stewart. The bling is Clear Crystal Stickers from Mark Richard’s.

Supplies used are Stampin’ Up, unless stated otherwise: Cardstock Whisper White #100730, Watercolor paper #105019, Flower Garden folder #123113, Big Shot #113439 (Stampin’ Up); Fancy Phrases (Waltzingmouse Stamps); Perfect Pearls Metallics (Ranger Ink); self-adhesive clear rhinestones (Mark Richards); Ink VersaFine Onyx Black (Tsukineko); Scor-tape.

Creative Sketches Technique CS33T

Creative Sketches CS33T Challenge   Creative Sketches  has a very interesting challenge this week – a Collage Stamping Sketch. I usually shy away from using too many stamps or images on one card (I’m from the school of thought that “Less is More”), so this was a dare to myself. Although my dad is been gone for almost 25 years, Father’s Day is something I cherish, as I celebrate it by commemorating his life and his memory. With those thoughts in my head, I headed to my craft table at 2:30am, got the latest Josh Groban CD – and had me some fun!

The image was stamped on Watercolor paper and colored using an Aqua brush and SU! Classic inks. Some stardust shimmer has been added to simulate the chrome details of vehicles of days past…

SUPPLIES are Stampin’ Up, unless noted: Stamps: Plane and Simple set (#), Sketchy Stars (The Paper Studio), Classic (Stamps Happen, Inc.), Distressing (clear stamps Glitz Design), Times (clear stamps Oriental Trading); InksCherry Cobbler (#119669), Night of Navy (#102977), Baja Breeze (#111833), Pale Plum (retired), Perfect Plum (#101437), Basic Grey (#109120), Taken with Teal (retired), VersaFine Onyx Black  (Tsukineko), Chalk inks (Copper Metallic, Soft Green, Latte – unknown provenience); CardstockWhisper White (#100730), Baja Breeze (#111352), Not Quite Navy (#101722), Cherry Cobbler (#119685), Watercolor paper (#105019) ; Punch: Ticket Corner Punch (#119867); Snail Adhesive (#104332); Hemp Twine in old gold (unknown provenience); Brads in Copper.
